Hours after presidential spokesperson Ernesto Abella said the CPP and its political arm, the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP), must stop collecting revolutionary tax, Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (BAYAN), Secretary General Renato Reyes reacted promptly.
Reyes, on Tuesday during a radio interview said that Malacañang’s demand from CPP-NPA-NDF to stop asking revolutionary tax is not possible, and consider the demand “baseless”.
Reyes also added that BAYAN party list and other political arm of CPP-NPA will be affected, including himself.
The termination of revolutionary tax collection is a must according to Abella, in order for the government to consider negiotiating again with the terrorist CPP-NPA group. /Carla Ocampo/
