Several supporters of Vice President Maria Leonor Robredo are asking fellow supporters to make monetary contributions for the latter’s legal fees, in connection with the pending electoral fraud filed by former Senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.
The Supreme Court (SC), which serves as the Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET), has ordered Robredo to pay more than 12 million pesos to be used in retrieval of vote counting machines that are involved in the petition filed by Marcos. Marcos on the other hand is ordered to pay more than 60 million pesos.
Marcos’ camp has already paid half of the required amount with the lists of donors which came public a couple of days ago.
Robredo’s organizer in Camarines Sur, Evangeline Salud, told Bombo Radyo on Monday that the Vice President has no money to fight legally.
Salud organized a group in Cam Sur to start the “Piso for Robredo” camp [aign.
The organizer said that the group has already collected 2.7 million pesos from 2,350 supporters in just 3 days.
Robredo’s position as vice president is in peril after Marcos filed a protest seeking vote recounting in particular areas around the country, where the former gained “unbelievable” number of votes against Marcos. /Laura Manimtim/Disclaimer: Contributed articles does not reflect the view of Okd2.com.
