After Pacquiao’s contract with Nike dropped by the giant sports apparel company, the aspiring senator has been reportedly sleepless for several nights now thinking that he may end-up fighting Timothy Bradly in barefoot.
Pacquiao’s camp was reportedly contacted other shoe company like Adidas, Rebook, Fila, and Converse, but none of them was interested in doing business with the National Fist following his “worse than animal” comment about LGBT.
On Monday, Alipio De Jesus of Marikina Shoes contacted Pacquiao’s PR man and offered the boxer a custom-made pair of shoes for his Bradly fight.
“We cannot afford to see Manny entering the ring wearing nothing in feet. We have to make a decision and offered him custom shoes,” De Jesus said.
Pacquiao and Marikina Shoes have reportedly agreed to an undisclosed amount making the boxer the official product endorser of all Marikina Shoes products. He is now barred from sighing any deal with other shoe companies.
“This is a big help for me and for the company. We are in win-win situation because I re-introduce our local brand to the world. If Marikina Shoes become popular again, many people will have jobs again, and many products will be sold again”, Pacquiao said.
“Now I have peace of mind entering the ring wearing something on my feet”, Pacquiao added.
