Two home owners associations from Tanauan City, Batangas decided to send an open letter to President Rodrigo Duterte following his decision to give free housing units to KADAMAY members in Pandi, Bulacan. It was unclear if the letter has reached the Malacañang palace, but OKd2.com has acquired a copy from one of the officers of Pilarville Subdvision Home Owners Association.
The two villages which are adjacent to each other (Ramonita County Homes, and Pilarville Subdivision), have a combined population of around 2,500 in more than 500 households located at Baranggays Darasa and Banjo East, Tanauan City, Batangas.
Ramonita and Pilarville are both mass housing projects built and occupied since 2000 by working class people. Most family members are working in factories located in industrial parks in CALABARZON region.
The following is a copy of open letter sent to President Rodrigo Duterte.
His Excellency President Rodrigo Duterte
Dear President Duterte,
We are group of people living legally inside two subdivisions in Tanauan City, Batangas, since 2000. We are working class people who spend 8 to 12 hours of working every day, paying taxes, Pag-ibig, SSS, and Philhealth contributions.
The two villages where our homes are located are Ramonita County Homes, and Pilarville Subdivision.
We acquired our housing units through Pag-ibig Fund in 2000 (Ramonita), and in 2005 (Pilarville).
Due to the American recession that affected the world in 2008, most of us lost our jobs, and failed to pay our monthly amortizations in Pag-Ibig. It was becoming harder to cope-up with our debts since then.
Although we are still working and continue to pay our Pag-ibig contributions, most of us are now threatened to lose our homes because of unpaid amortization.
When you said through national television that you are going to give those free housing units to KADAMAY members, we thought we can ask your favor to do the same with us. After all, we are legal occupants who only failed to pay our dues because of untoward incidents like recession.
Almost every day, Pag-ibig employees are pressing us to pay our dues, but what can we do when it is getting difficult to cope-up as most of us now have students to send in college?
Please Mr. President, we are asking your impartiality and fairness in dealing with us, Filipino people.
If you can give free houses to those illegal occupants, who don’t even pay taxes, why can’t you do the same for us, who pays taxes in order for the government to operate normally?
Some of us have only three to five remaining years to pay. It will be heart wrecking if we lose our houses which we have been paying for ten to fifteen years.
Please hear us.
We are hoping for your favorable response.
