Losing Fans: Jim Paredes Announces Retirement from Singing

Singer-activist Jim Paredes told a handful of his fans on Mall of Asia yesterday that he will quit from performing after his remaining scheduled concert tour until June this year.

Paredes said that since his controversial clash with Duterte supporter that went viral during the EDSA anniversary, the number of fans that buy his concert tickets suffered massive decline.

Since his failed concert in CCP on early March, Paredes experience massive loss in income and revenues. The actor cited the EDSA event as the main reason but remain unapologetic.

It was unclear whether Paredes will still produce studio albums, but the singer was certain that he is not going to do stage performance anymore.

Paredes, a staunch Duterte critic gained the attention of both media and netizens when he got involved in a verbal confrontation with one of Duterte’s supporters last February.

More than 3,000 concert goers were refunded after they boycotted Paredes’ concert following the controversial incident. /Cecile Santos/
