Retired police officer and alleged whistle-blower SPO4 Arthur Lascañas don’t want anything anymore other than leaving the country and forget everything, his lawyer told reporters on Wednesday.
Atty. Soledad Salgado, Lascañas legal counsel said the retired police officer is looking for possibilities to make his life back to normal by dropping his accusations against President Duterte, and living overseas for good.
Salgado added that her client is tired of reporters and other parties critical of President Duterte.
Salgado did not said whether the police officer is going to reverse his statement against Duterte or not, but the lawyer said “Lascañas want to put everything behind and live a normal life”.
“The outside pressure on him is becoming unbearable. There are people who tell him to do this and do that. He doesn’t know who to follow or who to believe. His life is getting miserable. He can’t decide anymore what to tell the media people”, Salgado said.
The lawyer did not give details on the people who “pressure Lascañas”, but she hinted that the police officer is willing to compromise with the camp of President Duterte in exchange for his family’s safety.
Salgado also added that she already informed the President’s legal department and waiting for the response.
Lascañas possible change of heart could weaken the accusations by Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV against Duterte. /Maia Soler/
