Kim Chiu’s “Chinita Princess” Album Earns Three Grammy Nominations in Foreign Category

Filipino actress and recording artist Kim Chiu is the first ever Filipino artist to earn the prestigious Grammy Award nominations during the 58th Grammy Awards held on February 15, 2016, at the Staples Center in Los Angeles.

Kim Chui’s second studio album “Chinita Princess” was nominated for the Best Foreign Album of the Year, and her hit single “Mr. Right” earned the Best Non-English Song of the Year nominations.

Likewise, the 25-year old actress was also nominated for Best Foreign Artist of the Year.

Although Kim did not win any award, the nomination alone is one of the highest accolades given to a Filipina recording artist. Kim Chiu is also the first and only Filipina singer to be nominated in Grammy Awards in the history of the academy.

Kim has earned several awards for her album, including MTV Asia Awards for best song (Mr. Right), Nickelodeon Award for Best Female Performer, and Best Asian Music Artist of the Year.

Mr. Right is a hit single from the actress and local critics call the song “one of the best of the decade”.

Grammy Awards is held annually and is a considered Academy Award of the music industry in US and other territories.
