Kalipunan ng Damayang Mahihirap (KADAMAY), the group that illegally occupied the government housing units in Pandi, Bulacan has threatened to block the country’s busiest expressway if the government refuses to provide jobs and aid to their members until May 30, one of the group’s leaders Nestor Padilla told a local radio on Wednesday.
Padilla said President Rodrigo Duterte has failed to fulfill his promise to help the poor and jobless Filipino people during his campaign period.
“Pag hindi kasi kami kumilos walang mangyayari. Aanhin namin ang bahay kung wala naman kaming makakain. Yong mga dumadaan sa NLEX, puro mayayaman, wala namang mawawala sa kanila kung hindi sila makakarating sa pupuntahan nila. Pag hindi kami kikilos sa June 3, walang mangyayari sa buhay namin”, Padilla said.
The sudden relocation of more than 40,000 KADAMAY members to Pandi Bulacan created big problem to local officials, especially to Pandi town Mayor Celestino Marquez.
Since Duterte granted the government housing units to KADAMAY, the group has been demanding “impossible freebies” like free power, water, and aid.
On the other hand, Northern transport associations has threatened to cause unimaginable problems to the group should their daily work will be affected.
After hearing Padilla’s message, Northern bus companies aired concern over the “unreasonable economic and business sabotage”.
“The government and the Filipino people could lose billions of pesos if this group succeeds on their evil plan. They must be stopped”, a bus company manager told the same local radio after Padilla’s message. /Mariz Adorno/Disclaimer: Contributed articles does not reflect the view of Okd2.com.
