The international media is producing more news on Imelda Schweighart’s resignation and controversial comments; more than covering Katherine Espin’s winning of Miss Earth crown.
Espin did not comment on Schweighart’s statement about the former’s alleged “fake” body parts, but the humble Miss Earth winner from Ecuador have something to say a day after Schweighart relinquished her Philippine crown.
As published in El Globo, Ecuador’s national newspaper, Espin reacted when she asked what she thinks about Schweighart’s resignation from pageantry.
“Estábamos compañeros y yo pensamos que era una buena persona. No esperaba oír tales declaraciones amargas de ella. No esperaba que renuncie como Miss Tierra Filipinas, pero si se cree que puede ganar más dinero por ser un modelo de ropa interior (como lo que estaba soñando), digo “buena suerte,” Espin said.
“We were roommates and I thought she was a nice person. I did not expect to hear such bitter statements from her. I did not expect her to resign as Miss Philippines Earth, but if she think she can make more money by being a lingerie model (as what she was dreaming of), I say “good luck”.”
Espin’s short statement tells everything about Schweighart. She did not further give any details about the half-German’s dream of becoming a lingerie model, but it was believed that the two had a lot of conversation while being roommates.
If being a Miss Philippines Earth could hinder Schweighart’s dream of becoming a lingerie model, only she can tell.
