Embattled former Chief of Bureau of Corrections General Franklin Bucayo denied that drug king Jaybee Sebastian was a government asset, contradicting Sen. Leila De Lima’s statement earlier.
The then Secretary of Justice Leila De Lima said last week that the reason why Jaybe Sebastian was retained in the New Bilibid prison, while the Bilibid 19 were transferred to NBI was that, the later was a government asset.
Bucayo belied such claim saying he doubts Sebastian was a government asset.
Members of the House Committee on Justice and Human Rights on Thursday pounded Bucayo during the House hearing on Drug Proliferation inside the New Bilibid Prison.
The former chief also in one instance said De Lima entered Sebastian’s “kubol” during a short visit.
Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre said the testimonial evidence to file cases against De Lima and other high-profile former officials are more than enough but his office is trying to build an airtight case so he is waiting for documentary evidence from various government offices like AMLA (Anti Money Laundering Agency).
The Congress hearing will resume on Monday, October 10, 2016.
