Hopeless Baron Geisler to Be Sent to Caballo Island with 159 High-Profile Inmates from Bilibid

It looks like controversial actor Baron Geisler’s days in mainland Metro Manila is counting, after a joint committee of DSWD and PDEA, decided to include the troublemaker Geisler in the first batch of inmates to be sent to Caballo Island on January.

An official from DSWD on Friday said no rehabilitation center based within Luzon and Visayas will agree to accept Geisler, so the committee decided to send him to Caballo Island prison facility.

Incoming Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) chief, retired Marine Major General Alexander Balutan, together with Atty. Enan Orceo already conducted an ocular inspection of Caballo Island.

When asked if the 160 inmates will come from the Maximum Security Prison, Aguirre, in a text message said “yes, from Building 14 and Maximum, but there are at least 5 who are not”. Aguirre did not confirm before who the other five are, but officials later said it would include Geisler and other showbiz personalities who are involved in drugs – possibly including Hero Bautista.

Aguirre said 40 support BuCor personnel will also be deployed to the island.

“We will just repair some facilities to suit our needs with minimum expenses. This is in line with our aim to decongest NBP,” Balutan told Aguirre.

Caballo Island is an isolated area found in the entrance of Manila Bay. It is hard to imagine how Geisler can live his life out there.

There is no definite time how long the inmates will stay in the island, but prior information suggest there is no return for people who are hopeless – like Baron Geisler. /Candice Sta. Maria/
