Young Fil-Am Filmmakers Association of America (YFFAA) said it will create a film based on President Duterte’s life from childhood until his current presidency.
Arthur Buenafe Miller, a student from Los Angeles Academy of Arts, and the current head of YFFAA said, the life of President Duterte is one interesting topic. Miller’s mother came from Davao City and a staunch Duterte supporter.
Miller said the film will portray Pres. Duterte as the righteous strongman contrary to what has the American television show “Madam Secretary” aired recently. Malacañang was critical over the unfair and bias portrayal of Duterte.
Meredith Wycoco, another member of YFFAA and an apprentice in Universal Studios said, the film will be produced independently and will be shown on arts theaters in California, and possibly in New York.
The group did not reveal the details, but Wycoco said the film will portray several Philippine high-profile politicians and public figures including Sen. Allan Peter Cayetano, VP Leni Robredo, former Sen. Bongbong Marcos, Sen. Leila De Lima, and Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV as the main antagonist, and others.
Wycoco a group of businessmen who involved in film-making has already produce enough budget for the film’s production, which will commence on June, 2017.
Miller will be in the Philippines on the second week of April to ask some Filipino actors to take part on the film. He mentioned several actors like John Arcilla, and Joel Torre as possible prospects, in addition to US-based cast.
Miller said the film will be shown first in schools across America before releasing it to arts theaters. /Lysette Mendoza/
