The family of PO1 Romeo Mandapat is challenging the Commission on Human Rights (CHR), and Sen. Leila De Lima to seek justice for the fallen police officer.
On Friday morning Mandapat and other police officers were out to arrest two suspected drug pushers in Brgy 178 North Calookan, when the suspects fired at Mandapat hitting and killing him.
“Ngayon nyo ilabas ang tapang nyo lalo na yong mga CHR. Ang mga addict at pusher kaya nyong ipagtanggol pero ang mga pulis hindi”, Mandapat’s wife challenging CHR.
Mandapat’s family also asked why Romeo was not wearing any bulletproof vest during the operation.
According to his colleagues, Mandapat was the first to enter Sampaloc st. when the suspects fired that hit him.
Mandapat was also a preacher and a loving person according to his family.
Since Duterte’s was on drugs started more than two months ago, more than a dozen of police operatives have been killed already, but the Commission on Human Rights and the mainstream media seems ignoring the police death, while focusing on the number of killed suspects.
CHR has yet to issue any response on Mandapat’s challenge./Abby Sulpicio/
