Chinese Newspaper Calls Robredo “Quitter”

A Chinese newspaper based in Nanjing has criticized Vice President Leni Robredo after she resigned from her cabinet post on Saturday.

Nanyang Siang Pau’s Sunday editorial mostly covered the renewal of relationships between China and the Philippines.

In one of its sub-headlines, the paper said :

“Philippine Vice President Leni Robredo has insulted her country’s Supreme Court when she said her political opponents are planning to oust her and steal her position as vice president. It looks like Robredo does not trust the Supreme Court. This is not a good speech from a sitting vice President.

Based on his speech when he visited China, it seems President Rodrigo Duterte believe that former senator and vice presidential candidate Ferdinand Marcos Jr was cheated by Robredo’s camp, thus, majority of Filipino people believe that Mrs. Robredo is a fake vice president.

Furthermore, it seems Mrs. Robredo can’t handle her cabinet position well, thus she resigned as chairman of housing committee. We feel sorry for our Filipino brothers and sisters to have a quitter vice president.”

The paper also added that the Chinese government fully supports Duterte’s war on drugs, and criticizes Duterte’s political opponents accusing them of hindering the country’s progress.
