A former top aide of losing vice presidential candidate and incumbent senator Antonio Trillanes IV said the senator want to be on spotlight again, after he said that Hacienda Binay could be converted to drug rehabilitation facility.
The former campaign official who asked not to reveal his name said the senator wanted to join the Duterte bandwagon, but the president ordered not to entertain him.
“Sa tingin ko nainggit sya kay Captain Nick Faeldon kasi pareho sila ng pinanggalingan. Although naging senator sya, a customs chief position is another story”, the aide said.
After Pres. Duterte won the elections, reports that Trillanes is interested in top defense position surfaced, but both camps denied the claim. The aide added that Trillanes ended was interested but the president turned a blind eye on him.
Both Faeldon and Trillanes were involved in Oakwood and Peninsula Hotel incidents, but the later used the short-lived fame as stepping stone for his political career, while Faeldon was in hiding for years.
Faeldon earlier revealed that Trillanes received large sum of money from influential Ilocos political clan, but Trillanes denied Faeldon’s claim.
When Duterte appointed faeldon as Chief of Bureau of Customs, the aide said there was a strong and hopeless reaction from Trillanes.
“His suggestion to transform Hacienda Binay to a drug rehabilitation center is a sign that he is interested to join the President’s camp”, the aide said. /Rosie Banaag/
