10 Compelling Reasons Why Filipinos Should Not Trust Trillanes

Senator Antonio Trillanes IV has been considered by many as antagonist in the Duterte administration, while others consider him a nuisance politician who does nothing other than criticizing the current government.

But before we go into conclusion, let’s take a look at the facts first why Sen. Trillanes is not to be trusted.

1. Oakwood Mutiny

This is already a known fact and was instrumental on what he is today. Trillanes was known for leading the 2003 Oakwood Mutiny when he and some 300 junior officers and enlisted men of the Armed Forces of the Philippines took over the Oakwood towers in Makati City as protest for alleged rampant corruption in the Philippine government – in the Armed Forces of the Philippines in particular – and the prevalence of social injustice all over the country. He was detained for almost seven and a half years after protesting against corruption.

2. Manila Peninsula Hotel Siege

Detained Senator Antonio Trillanes IV, General Lim and other Magdalo officials walked out of their trial and marched through the streets of Makati, called for the ousting of President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo, and seized the second floor of The Peninsula Manila along Ayala Avenue. Former Vice-President Teofisto Guingona also joined the march to The Peninsula Manila Hotel as well as some of the soldiers from the Armed Forces of the Philippines. The siege was ended after the military stormed the lobby and the second floor where Rizal function room was located and Trillanes was seized.

The lobby of the hotel sustained much damage because of gunfire that rattled through its walls, windows and the main glass door was obliterated by an armored personnel carrier on the assault to serve Trillanes et al. their arrest warrants.

On December 4, 2007, David Batchelor, general manager of the hotel, announced the filing of damage suit within 10 days, as some estimated the damage at US$ 1.2 million or P 50.766 million.

The two rebellious activities of Trillanes made him popular, and ultimately helped him to be elected as Senator.

3. Trillanes Received Money after Mutiny

Current Custom Chief and former marine Capt. Nicanor Faeldon claimed that Trillanes received money from a politician a year after the Oakwood mutiny.

In a press conference at The Philippine Star, Marine Capt. Nicanor “Nick” Faeldon mentioned that in 2004, Trillanes received money from then solon and current Ilocos Norte Gov. Imee Marcos who visited while they are in detention at the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (ISAFP). He said Marcos brought a box of cake and when it was opened it contained cash.

“Lumapit si Imee… ‘Sonny, ito na ang request mo.’ Inilapag iyong cake, Red Ribbon, doon sa harap namin. It was opened and nandoon ang pera,” Faeldon said.

Trillanes Accused the then Mayor Duterte of Having Millions of Pesos in BPI but failed to Prove

On May 2, 2016 during the height of election campaign, Trillanes accused Duterte of having hidden cash of millions deposited in BPI Julia Vargas branch. Trillanes said Duterte has at least P211 million but until now, the senator failed to probe, and the bank denied his claim.

4. Trillanes is Unprofessional, Rude, and Bully

During a senate hearing on extrajudicial killing on second week of September, Trillanes and fellow senator Allan Peter cayetano exchanged barbs. Trillanes got out of control and turned Cayetano’s microphone off. His attitude was criticized by many and was subjected to senate discipline. Trillanes sent a letter of apology to Cayetano but the latter did not response until now.

5. Trillanes was condemned by more than 200 PMA Alumni

Graduates of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) are collectively blasting Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV for his behavior during the Senate hearing on the spate of alleged extrajudicial killings.

In an open letter shared on Facebook group TheLongGrayLine, several PMA alumni expressed their disappointment with Trillanes for the way he conducted himself in his confrontation with Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano.

6. Trillanes is Instrumental in Bringing Edgar Matobato to Senate

Edgar Matobato, the controversial witness on the alleged davao Death Squad was helped by Trillanes so he could reach the senate. When Senator Gordon asked Matobato who helped him, trillanes said he was. Matobato is considered by many as fake witness.

7. Trillanes Secretly Met Chinese Officials in China

Then Senate President Juan Ponce Enrile said he got data that the stealthy trip of Senator Antonio Trillanes IV to China, just before he volunteered to be a back-channel mediator for the Philippine government is associated with the $70-billion loan guaranteed by Beijing to the Philippines.

Loaning mystery to his main goal, the Senate has no record that Trillanes looked for consent for any of his six excursions to China, Enrile said. Trillanes utilized a common passport and declined to have this stamped by migration.

President Duterte after winning the elections said he would investigate how the Philippine lost Scarborough Shoal, directing the question to Trillanes.

8. Trillanes Arraigned for Libel against Junjun Binay, Denied for Settlement

Former Makati Mayor Junjun Binay sued Trillanes for libel, and the latter was arraigned by the court and offered settlement, but Binay rejected the settlement and vow to put Trillanes behind bars.

9. Trillanes as the Senate’s Top Spender Hired His brother as Adviser, Houseboys, and Drivers as Consultants.

According to a report by The Standard, Senate documents show that Trillanes’ office is allocating P1.63 million a month to finance the salaries of 63 consultants, which reportedly includes his houseboy, family drivers, media workers, campaign donors, ex-mutineer friends, and the senator’s brother, Juan Antonio

10. Sen. Trillanes is Currently Collaborating with Sen. De Lima to Put down President Duterte

Everyone knows it already these two senators are putting their lives at risk for their personal goal. Perhaps the Yellow Cults are behind them?
